Commercial Licensing and Value Co-creation in the Digital Film Industry- Digital Film Archives(II)

     Through the support from the National Digital Archives Program founded by NSC, most institutions have accumulated a great deal and variety of digital archives. The next step is to think of how to effectively utilize those archives to create added value and therefore business revenues in order to facilitate the development of creative industries and digital content. The main scope of this research focuses on the built-up of a viable mechanism in commercially licensing digital archives in cooperation with cooperation with Institute of Chinese Taipei Film Archive. In so doing, we aim to establish an innovative licensing mechanism for its archives and analyze the value chain of the digital film industry through secondary data analysis and in-depth interviews. Meanwhile, we have built an online platform in this research project so that the digital archives can be shown and searched and matched for business licensing. We will also evaluate the effectiveness of online matching services and the economic viability of the licensing mechanism. In conclusion, this study will 1) propose evaluation methods on the business values of digital archive. 2) examine the effectiveness of evaluation methods applied to digital archives. 3) develop the successful service models of online matching services and licensing mechanism. 4) validate the feasible and simple licensing mechanism that the public sector can apply to numerous digital archives. Those strategies should enhance the overall development and advances of the digital content industry.
